Thousands of Sydneysiders, including Balmain residents will have had their plans for the long weekend dampened considerably by the wild weather of the past three days.
While having Monday as a public holiday in NSW, for the Queen’s Birthday, gave us all a long weekend to look forward to. The high winds and heavy rain have caused much chaos around New South Wales in general.
On the NSW Central Coast, we now have a death toll of 5 persons. after the bodies of a man and two children have been located. The car they were travelling in was swept into a river near Somersby.
The NSW State Emergency Service received thousands of calls for assistance as homes and businesses near Newcastle lost all electric power.
It’s not a good time to be out and about this weekend. But I at least have a decent excuse. I’m home in bed with the ‘flu.
On the bright side, at least some of the driving rain has been collected by the catchwaters around Warragamba Dam. It has to help our water shortage problem a little bit. Better than a kick up the bum, I say.
