Congratulations to the Drummoyne Water Polo Club’s Under-18 Boys and Girls Team for performing well at the Australian Club Championships in Hobart, Tasmania.
The Drummoyne Boys team won a silver medal for making it to the finals where they were overcome 9-6 by the Hunter Hurricanes, who were favourites for the final.
The Drummoyne Girls Water Polo team gave an excellent performance as well by capturing the bronze medal in their play-off match against the Hunter Hurricanes’ girls team. The girls missed out on a silver medal by losing 8-4. But it was an impressive effort against a more experienced opponent.
Winning the silver medal has given the Drummoyne boys’ their first medal success in a national Water Polo competition.
Two members of the Drummoyne boys’ team have also been chosen for the Australian Youth team. Aidan Roach and Tyler Martin are now getting ready for a European tour that will include Water Polo matches against Italy, Hungary and Slovakia.
