Dog Owners Are Barking Mad

Scores of dog owners in Balmain, Drummoyne and areas right across Sydney are angry at council regulations that restrict where they can walk their pet pooches.
Protesters are outraged by the Companion Animals Act which threatens them with $330 fines (AUD) each time they take their canines too close to public parks, playgrounds and prohibited beaches.
The action is the brainchild of Central Coast resident Eedra Zay, of Woy Woy, who created a website called Barking Mad in a bid to highlight the lack of public space for people’s pets. http://barking-mad.com.au
Dog lovers have been showing their distaste for the regulations by deliberately flouting the law. They say they clean up their doggie doo doo properly, and they keep the animals under control at all times.
There’s no doubt it is good for the animals to be allowed to run across the beach or in a park. The dogs love the exercise, and it’s good for the dog owners as well. But sadly they risk a fine every time they take their pets to these prohibited areas, or even near them.
Seems all a bit silly to me…
